Frustration is starting to build among the Vancouver Canucks’ fanbase regarding Quinn Hughes’ effort level and body language in recent games.

The last seven months have been pretty stressful for Quinn Hughes as the Vancouver Canucks captain has found himself in trade rumors and after the club made it known to teams around the league that they’re essentially open for business and have made their veteran players available, everyone is curious what this means for the 26-year-old blueliner.

“I mean, I think this is all about winning games. If we were winning games, Jim wouldn’t have said that. I don’t exactly know what he said because I’m not on Twitter or anything, but I heard the gist of it, and I think, like I said, if we were winning games, there would be no conversation about this.” Hughes said recently after finding out about the team making veterans and pending UFAs available.

There’s been mixed reporting on Quinn Hughes’ future in Vancouver with some insiders believing that he’s committed to the Canucks, while others say it’s only a matter of time before he’s dealt.

For some members of the fanbase, they’re not too happy with what they’re seeing from Quinn Hughes lately and feel like he isn’t playing like someone who is committed to staying with the Vancouver Canucks.

Frustration building over Quinn Hughes’ effort level & body language in recent games

During Friday’s loss to the San Jose Sharks, Wyatt Arndt of Canucks Army pointed out on social media that there were two instances during that game where it looked like Quinn Hughes just let up while on the power play.

“That’s twice now where Quinn Hughes has just sort of let up on a loose puck situation on the powerplay. Just doesn’t look like he’s enjoying things too much right now lol.” Arndt said.

Other fans noticed the same and took to social media to express their frustration with Quinn Hughes and his body language lately.

“Hughes buddy if you want to go just tell Vancouver now.

2nd time in 5 mins. of gametime where the puck is a foot in front of him and he puts in no effort to grab it.

The first time was with 4 seconds left in the 2nd, where he could have gotten the puck and looked for a chance.” @Sapsterr_ said.

“Did not like Quinn Hughes game at all today, way too individualistic, poor body language and poor defensively.

Hughes is a special, special player but was frustrating to watch in this game.” @NiqhilVelji said.

There’s no doubt that Quinn Hughes is frustrated right now, whether it be about the team’s performances, the situation they’re in with teammates now available on the trade market and constant questions about his future, but giving up on plays like yesterday against San Jose and his overall body language of late isn’t a good look for the captain of an NHL franchise.
