The Toronto Maple Leafs need to make a trade soon, and according to a new report, it would appear as though the Chicago Blackhawks are likely partners.

With the Toronto Maple Leafs losing multiple games and falling to the depths of the Eastern Conference standings, it’s clear that this team needs a change.

Treliving certainly agrees, as he has been working behind the scenes to get something done. This includes sending his staff to various games to scout prospective trade targets.

The Toronto Maple Leafs prepare to do business

For instance, on Friday night, Ryan Hardy, the assistant general manager for the Leafs, was at a Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators game.

What makes this particularly interesting is the fact that the Leafs have one to two Blackhawks games over the past month.

According to David Pagnotta, The Toronto Maple Leafs had assistant GM Ryan Hardy and a one of their pro scouts for last night’s game in Chicago vs. Nashville. It is the second time this month one of Toronto’s AGMs visited Chicago to take in a Blackhawks game.

All of this suggests that the Maple Leafs are looking to do business with the Chicago Blackhawks in the near future, although it is unclear who the Leafs would want to trade for.

The Blackhawks don’t have the best roster, and they don’t have a lot of available superstars who could transform the Leafs in a real way.

With that being said, Leafs fans should be excited for the prospect of a trade. This would help out the team a ton right now, especially as they struggle to beat good teams.

Brad Treliving has to do something, and his job is hanging in the balance if he cannot get anything done.
