The Boston Bruins were without David Pastrnak for the second straight game on Saturday, and Morgan Geekie stepped up once again.

Boston was hosting the Detroit Red Wings in the second half of their back-to-back. The Bruins got a 3-2 shootout win, backed by another stellar performance from Geekie.

Geekie broke the ice early in the second period and scored his second of the game on the power play in the third period, before Detroit tied it again. It was another multi-goal game from Geekie, and Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman praised the star forward.

“It’s awesome,” Swayman said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “I’m so happy for that guy. It’s no surprise. He works his butt off during the summer and obviously during the year, and I just get the best seat in the house to watch him score.

“I couldn’t be happier for him, and we’re lethal when we have guys like that.”

Geekie is once again tied with Nathan MacKinnon for the most goals in the NHL with 20. It’s been a stellar season for the Bruins’ star forward, who continues to stay hot.

”Just try to find the right spots,” Geekie said. “Both goals tonight don’t happen without (Elias Lindholm) in the first one and (Casey Mittelstadt) on the second. Just try to be in the right spots for those guys to see me, and hopefully, good things will happen. Lately, they’ve been finding me.”

Boston will return to the ice on Tuesday on the road against the Red Wings.
