The trade market around the NHL is clearly beginning to heat up, and now according to Elliotte Friedman, there are three teams motivated to move their goaltenders.

The NHL season is closing in on December as teams finally start to see where they lay for the season ahead, and as of right now, there are many teams looking to buy, and not too many teams looking to sell.

The same goes for the goaltending market, with teams like the Edmonton Oilers now desperate to make a change after the organization recently hit an all-time low through their first 25 games.

Three teams looking to sell their goaltenders

Early in the year, there weren’t many options for the Oilers and other teams looking to make upgrades in net, but now things have changed according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada.

According to Friedman, the Columbus Blue Jackets (Elviz Merzlikins), Buffalo Sabres (Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (Tristan Jarry) are seemingly looking to move these veteran goaltenders as they all move towards the future and younger names in net.

As of right now, it’s unclear when moves are going to start being made, but with the Oilers and other playoff teams right now getting desperate to upgrade in net, and for these teams that are looking to sell, it’s going to be a great time to cash in.

Ultimately, there’s likely not going to be a big star moved in the coming months unless something drastic changes, but with some very good players up for grabs, there are going to be some intriguing moves made in net that could change playoff races in both conferences.
