Tyler Pitlick hasn’t produced much for the Minnesota Wild early in 2025/26, and now they’ve officially waived the 34-year old veteran centre.
Tyler Pitlick has been a journeyman in the NHL for quite some time, playing games for Edmonton, Dallas, Philadelphia, Arizona, Calgary, Montreal, St. Louis, New York and eventually the Minnesota Wild.
In 15 games this season, the 34-year old veteran has tallied 0 goals and 0 points for a team that desperately needs offense from their bottom-six, and now, he has officially been placed on waivers.
Tyler Pitlick waived by the Wild
According to Elliotte Friedman, the 34-year old has been placed on waivers, with the team likely hoping that he can pass through and head back to the AHL’s Iowa Wild after finding some early season success down there.
In five games played in Iowa, Pitlick tallied 3 goals and 4 points, and given all of the NHL experience he has under his belt, it’s safe to say that Minnesota would love to keep that type of forward depth in the organization.
Around the National Hockey League however, there are plenty of teams that need forward depth as shown by the fact that veteran Sammy Blais was recently claimed after being waived by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and that may result in a claim here of the former second-round pick.
Ultimately, a guy like Pitlick can easily be replaced by many teams with depth players from the American Hockey League, so it’s unlikely that a team will put in a claim, but given how desperate some teams are for veteran depth, anything could happen here.
