The Chicago Blackhawks have found a star of the future in Spencer Knight, and as a result, they’re reportedly allowing teams to talk to veteran Laurent Broissoit.

The Chicago Blackhawks have some very exciting young talent, led by Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar, but last season, they made a fantastic move to acquire Spencer Knight, their star goaltender of the future.

Despite this, they have some solid veterans in their room, with Laurent Brossoit representing their most experienced goaltender, with no appearances in the National Hockey League this season.

Chicago give rival teams permission to talk to Brossoit

The 32-year old appeared in 23 games for the Winnipeg Jets a season ago, but with Knight and Arvid Soderblom ahead of him on the depth chart this season, it appears he has no role in Chicago.

Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that the Blackhawks have officially given teams permission to talk to the veteran with 140 appearances in the NHL under his belt to this point.

At this point in time, it’s no clear whether or not teams have already reached out about Brossoit, or whether this is Chicago trying to stir up the trade market, but with a GAA of 2.00 and a save percentage of .927 a season ago in Winnipeg, he’s proven he can be a capable starter in the NHL.

Only time will tell if the Blackhawks get offers on Brossoit or not, but given how he played a season ago and with teams like the Oilers desperate to make an upgrade in net, it makes sense that the 32-year old is a name that they check in on moving forward.
