The Vancouver Canucks made a tough decision sending Jonathan Lekkerimaki down to the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks after returning from his injury, but Patrick Allvin has since called him up and could make his return to the lineup tonight.
“Lekkerimaki, along with Filip Chytil and Teddy Blueger were all injured during October 19th’s game against the Washington Capitals and a few days later, the Swedish forward found himself found himself on injured reserve (IR) a few days later.
It’s now been 18 days since Jonathan Lekkerimaki has been able to play, but it looks like that’ll change very soon after an update was given on Wednesday.”-Jaxon
Jonathan Lekkerimaki could make his return tonight for the Vancouver Canucks.
The Canucks posted on their X account the return of Lekkerimaki, the Swedish forward has missed over a month of NHL action, and can hopefully dress for tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Jiri Patera has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) and F Jonathan Lekkerimäki has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).
Lekkerimaki was injured in the same game where Filip Chytil was also injured. It was a big blow to the team as both were middle six forwards, and on the second unit of the power play. And both their 5v5 expected goals and power play percentage have been brutal. The addition of Lekkerimaki can help provide some much needed offence for the Canucks.
Tonight’s matchup with the Kings will be no easy matchup, the Kings have had a terrific month of November, moving all the way up to 2nd place in the Pacific. The Canucks will have their hands full and can use all the help they can get.
