A National Hockey League insider has revealed what the Vancouver Canucks may seek in a potential Quinn Hughes trade with the New Jersey Devils.

Whenever that day comes, that the Vancouver Canucks make Quinn Hughes available for trade, there’s no doubt that at least a third of the league’s 31 other teams will be lined up for a chance to land the former Norris Trophy winner, but one team that everyone has their eyes on is the New Jersey Devils.

NHL insider reveals what Vancouver Canucks may seek from New Jersey Devils in Quinn Hughes trade

The New Jersey Devils have been linked to Quinn Hughes for months now and with his two brothers, Jack and Luke, already playing in The Garden State if he were to be traded anywhere, it’s safe to assume they’d be the favourite.

New Jersey has some intriguing assets that the Vancouver Canucks will ask for, again, if trade talks ever occur between the two sides, and NHL insider Jeff Marek recently revealed who Patrik Allvin may seek in a potential deal.

According to Marek, two names to keep an eye on in a potential Vancouver-New Jersey trade are Devils forward Dawson Mercer and defenseman Simon Nemec, the latter of whom was selected second overall in 2022 behind his fellow countryman Juraj Slafkovsky.

“What would a package look like from the Devils…Simon Nemec’s name is probably at the top of everybody’s list; I would wonder about Dawson Mercer, I would also wonder about a pick.” Marek said.

For the next several months there’s going to be trade proposals suggested featuring Quinn Hughes and other teams around the NHL, but a package involving Dawson Mercer, Simon Nemec and a first round pick would be hard to match and something Patrik Allvin would need to seriously consider if the Devils present him with that offer.
