Robby Fabbri has signed with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout basis.

The Florida Panthers affiliate made the announcement on Monday.

A native of Mississauga, Ont., Fabbri appeared in 44 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks, notching eight goals and eight assists.

Fabbri, 29, had been on a PTO with the Pittsburgh Penguins during training camp, but was not offered a contract as the season began.

Fabbri was a member of the Blues team that won the Stanley Cup in 2019, contributing a goal in 10 playoff appearances that spring.

Internationally, Fabbri suited up for Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Toronto and Montreal, helping the team to a gold medal.
