Rick Tocchet left the Canucks this off-season for the Philadelphia Flyers, and now he’s eyeing several of his former players in potential trade talks.

The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a very fun start in the 2025/26 season, posting a 14-7-3 record through their first 24 games as they appear to be a genuine Stanley Cup Playoffs threat in the Metropolitan Division with their blend of youth and experience.

With the emergence of Trevor Zegras, Owen Tippett and other young players, the future appears to be bright, but with a wide open Eastern Conference, they’ll be looking to upgrade in a big way.

Rick Tocchet to eye move with the Vancouver Canucks

Now, we know one team they’ll be looking towards for a trade, with Head Coach Rick Tocchet reportedly pushing to land one of his former players from the Vancouver Canucks, according to Elliotte Friedman.

Vancouver has players Tocchet likes…Couple of people said to me, you better keep an eye on Philly when it comes to Vancouver’s players. We’re not even talking about Hughes, everyone likes Hughes.

At this point, it’s unclear exactly who Friedman is talking about, but with players like Elias Pettersson, Keifer Sherwood and Filip Hronek among others potentially available, a trade between the two parties could make perfect sense.

Ultimately, there may still be some hard feelings between the two parties after the way they parted this past off-season following some very tense, dramatic scenes last season, but if it’s best for business for both teams, don’t be surprised to see the Flyers and Canucks come together on a deal at some point this season.
