The former Flyers goaltender will suit up for Vegas for the first time after being cleared to resume NHL play following the Hockey Canada investigation.

Former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart will officially return to NHL action on Tuesday night, marking his first start in the league since January 20, 2024. The appearance comes after a lengthy legal process tied to the Hockey Canada sexual assault investigation, in which Hart — along with four other players — was found not guilty during a July trial in Canada.

Following the verdict, the NHL imposed restrictions that prevented the players from signing with league clubs until October 15 and barred them from competing in NHL games until December 1. Once cleared to return, Hart signed with the Vegas Golden Knights organization in October, beginning his path back to the NHL with their AHL affiliate in Henderson.

In three appearances with the Silver Knights, Hart posted a 1–2 record along with a .839 save percentage and a 3.07 goals-against average as he worked to regain game shape after nearly a 18-months away from professional competition. Despite the uneven numbers, Vegas remained confident he was ready for his next step and on Tuesday, he finally got the call.

Hart’s return marks a significant moment for the 26-year-old goaltender as he attempts to rebuild his NHL career following what was arguably the most challenging stretch of his personal and professional life.

All eyes will be on how Hart responds in the coming weeks as he settles into his new role and works to reestablish himself as a reliable NHL starter.
