The Bruins‘ defenseman situation is starting to get dire.

Michael Callahan, who was called up to Boston on an emergency basis when Henri Jokiharju went on injured reserve, left Tuesday’s game at Detroit with an injury of his own.

Callahan suffered the lower-body injury late in the first period at Little Caesars Arena and didn’t return to the game. The Bruins ruled him out, but there was no further update.

The Bruins are already missing Charlie McAvoy, Jordan Harris and Jokihaju. They’re particularly thin on the right as McAvoy, Jokiharju and Callahan are all right shots.

Callahan had played five shifts before the injury.
