The Vancouver Canucks have received some unfortunate injury news to start the week in regards to forward Conor Garland, who didn’t play Saturday in Los Angeles.
After having Sunday off, the Vancouver Canucks returned to the ice on Monday to practice ahead of tonight’s clash with Nathan MacKinnon and the NHL-leading Colorado Avalanche.
“Conor Garland is out tonight with an upper body injury. He’s still being evaluated, so there’s no timeline as of yet.” Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 said on Saturday.
When meeting with reporters on Monday, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote gave an injury update on Conor Garland and unfortunately, it’s not good news.

In a social media post yesterday, Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre reported that forward Conor Garland did not accompany the team to Denver for Tuesday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche and has returned to Vancouver to be evaluated further by the team’s medical staff.
“As Canucks fly this afternoon to Denver, winger Conor Garland headed back to Vancouver from L.A. for further evaluation. Undisclosed injury. Nils Hoglander had first practice w full team, but in non-contact jersey. Looked quick, lively. Won’t play Tues vs Avalanche.” MacIntyre said.
Injuries have been a big issue for Vancouver’s 2025-26 season, with several prominent names currently on the sidelines including Filip Chytil, Teddy Blueger and Thatcher Demko, with Conor Garland also missing a handful of games at the end of October and one in November following a fight with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh.
Given how important Conor Garland is to the Vancouver Canucks’ top-six, it’s going to be a big loss for Adam Foote if he’s out for an extended period of time and for General Manager Patrik Allvin, he’s certainly hoping that the 29-year-old winger will be back in the lineup soon as teams start to call regarding his availability.
Garland is going to be sorely missed tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, who have a four-point lead over the Dallas Stars for the lead in the National Hockey League’s overall standings and a whopping 103 goals in 25 games, an average of 4.12 per game.
