Owen Tippett is playing some of his best hockey of the season.

With more minutes likely to fall on his lap in the absence of Tyson Foerster, my Sabres vs. Flyers predictions expect him to find the scoresheet once again on Wednesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for December 3.

Sabres vs Flyers prediction

Sabres vs Flyers Best bet: Owen Tippett Over 0.5 points (-110)

Owen Tippett is heating up in a big way. He has points in six of his last nine games, during which time he’s tallied eight points.

He should be heading for more opportunities moving forward. The Philadelphia Flyers lost Tyson Foerster to injury last time out, and he will be sidelined long-term.

Foerster is a sharpshooter who is leading the Flyers in goals. They’ll need others to pick up the slack in his absence, and Tippett’s shot-first mentality makes him an ideal fit to fill the role.

Tippett saw plenty of extra usage after Foerster left with an injury, logging more than 20 minutes against the Penguins. That is a promising sign head coach Rick Tocchet will be putting more on Tippett’s plate.

The matchup is excellent as well. The Buffalo Sabres rank sixth in pace and have given up an average of 3.3 goals over the last 10 games.

Buffalo has also given up the eighth-most goals, and fifth-most shots on target, to right wingers this season.

Trevor Zegras is a talented playmaker who has created a ton of goals for his teammates this season. He has a helper in 60% of his games, 79% of his home games, and in eight of nine at home after a day of rest.

Although the Flyers are a solid shot suppression team, Jack Quinn really stands out. He has recorded multiple shots on target in eight of his last nine, including against strong shot-prevention opponents like the Hurricanes and Oilers.
