Winnipeg Jets

Defenceman Neal Pionk is expected to return to the Jets lineup when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, according to team reporter Mitchell Clinton.

Pionk, 30, was injured in the first period of the Jets’ 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Nov. 23 and missed the team’s last four games with a lower-body injury.

The 6-foot right-shot defenceman has a goal and five points in 21 games this season while averaging 22:44 of ice time.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche recalled goaltender Trent Miner from the AHL’s Colorado Eagles on Wednesday.

The move comes after goalie Scott Wedgewood left Tuesday’s 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks with an upper-body injury.

Miner, 24, appeared in two games with the Avalanche this season, going 0-0-2 with a 2.12 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.

The 6-foot-1 netminder has a 4-1-0 record in the AHL this season with a 2.16 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Philadelphia Flyers

Sam Ersson will be in the net when the Flyers take on the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.

Ersson, 26, has won three of his last five games and has a 4-2-2 record this season with a 3.09 goals-against average and an .859 save percentage.

Additionally, defenceman Egot Zamula and forward Nick Deslauriers will draw into the Flyers lineup on Wednesday while defenceman Noah Juulsen will be the odd man out.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Forwards Justin Brazeau and Noel Acciari were full participants at Penguins practice on Wednesday, according to team reporter Michelle Crechiolo.

Brazeau, 27, was enjoying a hot start to the season, recording six goals and 12 points in 12 games before missing 13 games with an upper-body injury.

The 6-foot-6 winger joined the Penguins on a two-year, $3 million contract in the off-season and was paired on the second line with Evgeni Malkin.

Acciari, 34, missed the team’s last 11 games while dealing with an upper-body injury.

The 5-foot-11 centre has three assists in 13 games this season.

Additionally, forward Anthony Mantha missed Wednesday’s practice for a maintenance day while forward Joona Koppanen wasn’t on the ice due to an illness.
