The Philadelphia Flyers (14-8-3) will host the Buffalo Sabres (11-11-4) on Wednesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Philadelphia will be without its leading goal scorer, Tyson Foerster (10), who is set to miss the next two to three months with an upper-body injury sustained during the team’s 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Flyers’ last five games have been bookended by tough losses where the team has looked outright tired. In between are three straight wins, with the team going 3-2-0 in their last five.

Buffalo comes into Philly after back-to-back wins, most recently vs. Winnipeg, and a shootout win vs. the Wild. They are 3-2-0 in their previous five games, with their third win coming against the Carolina Hurricanes.

It is a national broadcast game on Wednesday, with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. EST at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Things to watch

Obviously, the absence of Foerster leaves a big hole in the Flyers’ lineup. So, the things to watch on Wednesday night will revolve around filling that hole.

The first, Nikita Grebenkin, is set to get a good boost in minutes. He is slated to be on that third line for the Flyers. One thing I am watching closely is how he plays with Noah Cates. This could be great for Grebenkin. Cates is a responsible centerman who makes it easier for the wingers to take a few more risks. Bobby Brink is also a pretty good disher. Let’s see if Grebenkin can make the most of this new opportunity.

Second, the Flyers will be without their leading goal scorer without Foerster. He has been the one consistent scorer for the Flyers this season. Now, someone will have to step up and be the reliable scorer for the Flyers. Who will it be?

Lastly, the penalty kill. We know, for now, how Foerster’s spot on the power play will be filled. Now, all eyes will be on the penalty kill. Foerster was consistently paired with Noah Cates on the kill. Now, who is the next man up?
