The Flyers saw injury get added to insult with Monday’s result to open a six-game homestand. On Tuesday, it was announced that Tyson Foerster, who left Monday’s game with an apparent injury, would miss two to three months.
So now, the “next man up” mentality has to take over for the Flyers, who suddenly have their leading goal scorer on the shelf. That starts on Wednesday night, as the Flyers host the Buffalo Sabres.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Owen Tippett has two goals and four points in the last four games, including a three-point night against New Jersey on Saturday.
Tage Thompson has gone four straight games without a goal since a six-game goal streak. He has just one assist in the last four games after picking up nine points in the previous six games.
Sam Ersson gets the start for the Flyers. Ersson made 28 saves in a win over the Islanders in a shootout in his last start on Friday.
Alex Lyon is expected to start for the Sabres. Lyon stopped 18 of 23 shots in a loss to the Devils in his last start on Friday. Lyon’s last win came on Oct. 24 against Toronto.
