The Boston Bruins suffered a tough 5-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, dropping their record to 15-13-0 on the season. Across the NHL, things also didn’t go particularly well for one of the B’s former players, Tyler Seguin, as he suffered a potentially season-ending injury.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Seguin initially broke into the league with the Bruins, but he never truly panned out for them. After three seasons with the team, Seguin was dealt to the Dallas Stars, which is where he has spent the last 13 seasons and counting of his career.

Seguin returned to action this year after missing the majority of the 2024-25 season with a hip injury. However, his season already appears to be over, as reports indicate he suffered a torn ACL in Dallas’ overtime loss to the New York Rangers.

“Tyler Seguin has an ACL injury and is out long term,” Mike Heika of the team’s official website shared in a post on X.

Through 27 games, Seguin had gotten off to a decent start for the Stars, as he had seven goals and 10 assists during his time on the ice. Now, Seguin will have to undergo a lengthy injury rehab process before getting back into the action.

As for the Bruins, they are also struggling to stay afloat as they continue to deal with a slew of injuries themselves. Boston will be back in action on Thursday night when it squares off against the St. Louis Blues, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
