Sophomore forward Preston Kromm scored five goals to lead the Oregon boys hockey team to a 9-5 Badger Conference win over Baraboo on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Pierce Park.
Kromm scored two goals in the first period to put the Panthers (2-0, 1-0 Badger) up 2-0. Kromm and senior forward Ethan Disch added a goal each in the second period to extend Oregon’s advantage to 4-1 heading into the third.
The third period saw a total of nine goals, five from Oregon and four from Baraboo. Kromm netted his fifth goal to put the Panthers up 5-2 3 minutes, 46 seconds into the third. Baraboo cut its deficit down to 6-4 12:15 into the period, but Kromm scored again to put the Panthers up 7-4. Disch then added two goals to record a hat trick and put Oregon ahead 9-4.Â
Junior goalie Deacon Johnson saved 25 shots for Oregon. The Panthers finished 2-for-4 on power plays.
