Another Detroit Red Wings veteran went down with an injury in Tuesday night’s game against the Boston Bruins.

“After playing them [on Saturday] and getting to tonight’s game, we had an idea of what we had to do and polish up. I thought we did that well. I thought we played and defended faster. As players escape, climb and get into open ice, it really creates problems. We took some of that ice away from them. I thought we did that well, and all four lines were committed to doing it.” – Todd McLellan

However, during the game, another veteran had to leave the ice with an injury.

Red Wings Veteran Michael Rasmussen Leaves Game With Injury

After the game, Todd McLellan confirmed that Rasmussen had to leave after getting hit by two heavy players simultaneously and that he will be reevaluated on Wednesday.

“Ras got double hit. I think a couple of heavy players. He was examined. He just didn’t have the strength to come back. Nothing’s damaged or anything like that. So we’ll see how he is in the morning.”

Rasmussen, 26, has been limited to 22 games this season due to health issues. He scored eight points, including four goals, with a -2 rating this season.

The 6-foot-6 forward has two more seasons after this one on his 4-year, $3,200,000 AAV contract signed in 2024.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be well enough to return to the lineup Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
