Thank god there was a giant gap between the Kraken’s last game against Edmonton and this one. I’ve almost forgotten what the score from last time was.
Last time, Stuart Skinner decided for the first time in his life that he should try and earn his contract, and promptly shut the Kraken out on 26 shots against. Part of this was made all the more infuriating by Seattle’s power play choosing a hell of a night to go blank, as they had multiple golden opportunities to break the ice, far more than the Oilers did…and failed to do so.
If anything needs to change, its unquestionably that. Skinner and Pickard are rarely good enough to do that to you on a consistent basis, and to their credit the Kraken absolutely did what they were supposed to in order to try and get goals on Edmonton’s netminder: they spent a lot of time in their personal space.
Seriously, just do this again, tighten up the work on your end, and you’ll probably be alright?
That, and for the love of God at least outscore your penalty kill’s problems. At this point it should just be the top item on any Kraken coach’s whiteboard.
LETS GO KRAKEN, LETS GO SQUIDS
