DETROIT – Ever seen what was used to resurface the ice before the invention of the Zamboni? It’s just one of many historic items now on display to celebrate 100 years of the Detroit Red Wings franchise.

The “Detroit Red Wings at 100: Becoming Hockeytown” exhibition runs from now through next November at the Detroit Historical Museum at 5401 Woodward Avenue.

And this isn’t a small exhibition. It encompasses three different galleries and is included with admission into the museum.

“It’s an honor to see a century of Red Wings history brought to life at the Detroit Historical Museum,” said Asia Gholston, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment Senior VP of Brand Marketing. “Every decade has its own defining moments, and this exhibit gives our fans a special opportunity to celebrate the passion, pride, and legacy that have defined 100 years of Red Wings hockey.”

The exhibition includes items from the Red Wings archives and rarely seen Red Wings artifacts on loan from the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Windsor Community Museum, including:
