With the Bruins missing one of their top offensive weapons and the Blues tightening up defensively, this matchup at TD Garden projects to be a low-scoring battle.

The St. Louis Blues have really slowed their pace and it has paid off. Their goals against numbers have noticeably improved, which is a big reason why eight of their past 10 have gone Under.
My Blues vs. Bruins predictions expect their improved defensive play to sustain itself against a Boston team missing its most dangerous weapon.
Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for Thursday, December 4.
Blues vs Bruins prediction
Blues vs Bruins Best bet: Under 5.5 (-110)
The St. Louis Blues have done a much better job of keeping the puck out of late.
They rank 27th in goals against per game this season but have made the jump to 17th over the past 10 games, keeping company with teams holding playoff spots like the Golden Knights and Senators.
Jim Montgomery has his guys holding their cards tight to the vest. They’re playing a more structured, lower-event brand of hockey rather than cutting it loose and trying to outscore any defensive miscues.
Their games have averaged 4.64 total expected goals per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play during this stretch. That is the lowest output in the league, with the Kraken the only other team below 4.75.
Tightening the screws has really made a difference for the Blues, who have played to the Under in eight of the last 10. We should expect that trend to continue against the Boston Bruins.
They are playing without superstar David Pastrnak, who leads the team in points with 29 through just 25 games.
Boston has scored eight goals in three games without Pasta and struggled to generate shots, finishing with 21 or fewer in two of those contests.
The improved defensive play of the Blues should really shine through in this matchup.

Blues vs Bruins same-game parlay
Justin Faulk has generated multiple shots on goal in seven of his past eight games. He ranks 2nd on the Blues in 5-on-5 shots over the past 10 games and should have plenty of opportunity against the Bruins, who sit 23rd in 5-on-5 shot suppression in that time.
Pavel Buchnevich has attempted seven shots in back-to-back games and draws a Bruins squad that has given up the 3rd most shots to wingers over their last 10.
