Sophomore Sofia Marciano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Del Viso Day School), a member of the Saint Francis field hockey team, has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team, becoming the fourth player in program history to earn the honor.

Marciano emerged as one of the Red Flash’s leading offensive players this season. She ended the 2025 campaign with 19 goals and two assists, ranking 11th in Division I in goals per game (1.00) and 17th in points per game (2.11). Her 19 goals are the second most in Saint Francis single-season history, and her 40 points also rank second on the program chart. Her scoring prowess was particularly evident on September 28, when she recorded six goals in a 7–0 win over Merrimack, tying for the second-most goals in a single game in NCAA history. Marciano also received the second-most awards on the team this year, including two Offensive Player of the Week honors, five Prime Performer titles, and All-NEC First Team honors.

In addition to the sophomore, four other Saint Francis field hockey players have earned NFHCA All-Region selections. Carissa Makea was the first, earning second-team honors in 2011, 2012, and 2013 before capping her career with the program’s first First Team selection in 2014. From that same team, Selena Adamshick earned second-team honors in 2014 and 2015. Likewise, in 2015, goalkeeper Samantha Zeiders became the program’s second First Team selection and the first goalkeeper to receive the honor. The most recent selection came in 2016, when Shannon Pereira was named to the Second Team.
