Tyson Foerster exited the Flyers’ game Monday night against the Penguins during the second period with an upper-body injury.
He was ruled out for the rest of the game.
The 23-year-old winger fell to the ice in visible pain after unloading a shot on the power play. He immediately went up the tunnel at Xfinity Mobile Arena and toward the locker room.
Rick Tocchet didn’t have a further update after the game.
“He’s a good player,” the Flyers’ head coach said. “I hope it’s not long because he’s a big part of our team.”
Update: Foerster to miss extended time as Flyers must fill void left by top goal scorer
Foerster had scored a power play goal on a different shot just 43 seconds prior to suffering the injury. The goal tied the game at 1-1, but the Flyers were significantly outplayed the rest of the way in a 5-1 loss.
If the Flyers were to lose Foerster for any period of time, it would cause a considerable hole. He leads the club with 10 goals and entered Monday night on pace for 31.
Foerster had offseason surgery on his elbow to address an infection that stemmed from an injury he suffered playing for Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. But he was ready to go for the Flyers’ season opener Oct. 9. He missed four games last month after blocking a shot with his foot.
