The Carolina Hurricanes returned to the ice tonight, trying to close out their Eastern Conference semi-final series, with the Washington Capitals.
Let’s drop the puck, they played Game 5 in the nation’s capital, through 2 periods, the game was tied at 1 a piece. But in the 3rd, the Hurricanes would go on to score two goals to beat the Capitals.
They will play the winner of the Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leaf’s.
Alright, over to the high school soccer playoffs, New Bern head coach Tim Guter announced last week he was retiring at the end of this season.
His Bears finally had their 1st round playoff game, against D-H Conley. They played at the Hollywood Cross Roads, DH Conley won’t let their coach leave just yet, as they would get the win over the Bears 5 to 1.
We had a couple of other first round games that finished up tonight, check it out, Southside took on Eastern Wake Academy. The Seahawks would drop their first round matchup against the Eagles, and North Duplin would beat the Neuse charter Cougars.
And can’t forget some of the 2nd round games, including Jacksonville beating rival J-H Rose, 4 to zero.
Plus, high school softball playoffs, 3-A East top seed DH Conley hosted apex friendship at the Hollywood Cross Roads. DH Conley would go on to get the win 6 to 2.
Richlands and South Johnston completed their rain delayed game from Wednesday, and bear grass charter finished off their rain delayed win over North Duplin. Bear Grass travels to Roxboro community tomorrow night.
Over now to the high school baseball playoffs. DH Conley is the top seed in the 3-A East, the Vikings hosted Pinecrest at the Hollywood Cross Roads. DH Conley rallies for 5 runs in bottom of the 7th, they would go on to win 7 to 6 in a walk-off against Pinecrest.
Other 3rd round playoff scores now, 3A East top seed J-H Rose beat South Brunswick.
Next up, the Rampants will host North Brunswick.
The Scorpions finished off their rain delayed game at Jacksonville, and South Lenoir traveled all the way back to Whiteville to resume their game with the Wolfpack.
Now moving to college baseball, ECU started their final conference series of the regular season.
The Pirates are in Tampa to take on South Florida, game 1, and they would handle business as they beat the Bulls, 5 to 1.
Some other big games, a couple of big series in the ACC, where 4 teams could still win the regular season title.
Out in Florida state, the Tarheels would go on to beat the Seminols 8 to 3.
And in Raleigh, NC State beats Stanford.
Across the street in Durham, the Blue Devils lose 7 to 6 to Georgia Tech.
Wake Forest blows out Louisville.
