Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote has revealed the potential return date for injured goaltender Thatcher Demko as well as forward Nils Hoglander.

Those injury issues have caused a big problem for Adam Foote’s group as they now sit in last place in the National Hockey League’s standings as of Friday morning with a 10-14-3 record through 27 games.

However, it appears that the Canucks will be getting some of their injured players back in the lineup very soon, including Thatcher Demko and Nils Hoglander, following an update from Head Coach Adam Foote on Thursday.

Vancouver Canucks’ Adam Foote shares potential return date for Thatcher Demko & Nils Hoglander

When meeting with reporters on Thursday following the team’s practice at Rogers Arena, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote issued a postitive injury update on Thatcher Demko and Nils Hoglander.

According to Foote, both Thatcher Demko and Nils Hoglander could return for the finale of their four-game homestand next Thursday as the Canucks host Tage Thompson and the Buffalo Sabres.

“Adam Foote says Nils Höglander and Thatcher Demko could both potentially return for the game against Buffalo next Thursday.” Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 said.

Demko, 29, sat out the team’s back-to-back in early last month for what the club called “maintenance reasons” but upon his return to the crease on November 11th against the Winnipeg Jets, he lasted just one period before leaving the game with a suspected lower-body injury.

In the weeks since Demko’s injury, there hasn’t been a ton of updates on his status, other than General Manager Patrik Allvin saying that he’s out week-to-week.

The San Diego, California native has a 5-4-0 record in ten games this season along with a 2.80 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.

As for Nils Hoglander, he suffered an injury during the preseason that required surgery and was given an eight-to-ten week recovery timeline by the club.

The Bocktrask, Sweden native was placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) by the Canucks early on in the 2025-26 season and recently, began skating again, even shedding his non-contact sweater for a regular jersey at practice on Thursday.

Vancouver is set to return to action tonight as they kick off a four-game homestand against the Utah Mammoth, with puck drop set for just after 6 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
