The Washington Capitals are collaborating with the greatest wrestler of all time, John Cena, ahead of his retirement match at Capital One Arena on Saturday, December 13.
The team is releasing a limited-edition t-shirt, featuring Cena and some of his iconic WWE logos in Capitals colors. Fans can get the tee as a gift by purchasing tickets to the Caps’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes on December 11 through a special link.
The Capitals say all shirts will be picked up by fans at the game. Sizes are not guaranteed, and size availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The red, white, and blue shirt has Cena on the front, doing his customary hustle, loyalty, and respect hand gesture, while holding up a towel reading “LET’S GO CAPS.” Cena has always carried a towel with him to the ring during every one of his entrances before matches, so that he can throw it to a lucky member in the crowd.
Also on the front are the words “THE LAST TIME IS NOW!” which is a reference to Cena’s entrance theme “The Time Is Now,” tweaked to indicate the end of Cena’s in-ring career. On the back is another reference to his retirement, with “AFTER THIS” floating above his usual “You Can’t See Me” logo.
Cena, a 17-time WWE World Champion, does not yet know his opponent for his final match, which will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event. The final match in a tournament to determine who gets to face Cena will take place on Monday, December 8, between former world heavyweight champion Gunther and Hagerstown, MD, native LA Knight.
Cena, a surefire WWE Hall of Famer, has been on a year-long farewell tour, including his last matches at WrestleMania, Madison Square Garden, and in his hometown, Boston, MA.
Saturday Night’s Main Event, which begins at 7:30 pm, will stream in primetime exclusively on Peacock.
