The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Los Angeles Kings on the road 2-1. The Youth led the way as Bedard, Nazar Kaiser and Moore picked up points in the effort.
First Period:
The game started off with the Chicago Blackhawks having some high-quality chances after Cody Ceci turned the puck over in his own zone. Chicago controlled the pace of play early, including Colton Dach getting a great chance after a Warren Foegle turnover.
The story all season for the Blackhawks has been discipline, and a delayed Matt Grzelcyk interference resulted in some Los Angeles opportunities. Darcy Kuemper and Spencer Knight traded robberies on Andre Burakovsky and Phillip Danualt, respectively. After a period of 4v4 hockey, the teams went into the break stalemated. Â
Second Period:Â
Chicago continued to dominate play to start the second. Jason Dickinson rang. a shot off the post, and Nazar broke through the Kings’ back pair but couldn’t capitalize. Connor Bedard would end up capitalizing, however. On the Power Play, Bertuzzi had the puck on the low circle.
Bedard recognized the play forming and crashed the net hard. In a flipping of the script, it would be Bedard tapping home Bertuzzi’s feed to break the ice. Like most Los Angeles Kings games, the game would be a neutral zone struggle. When unable to break through an opponent, a desperate counterattack is often the best move.

After a mad scramble in front of the net with under a minute left, Knight came up huge, and the puck flew across the crease multiple times. The young stars of the Blackhawks shone when Oliver Moore found Frank Nazar, who lost the puck on his feet but threw a pass to the cutting Wyatt Kaiser, who recorded his first goal of the season on a great shot.Â
Chicago held the 2-goal advantage going into the final frame
Third Period:Â
The final frame started off with the ringing of the post from Kevin Fiala. Los Angeles pushed back this period, and Warren Foegele assisted Trevor Moore’s goal to cut the lead in half. The momentum flipped once again for Chicago after Frank Nazar drew a tripping call, leading to a scrum. The ensuing power play brought a great between-the-legs chance for Tyler Bertuzzi, but nothing more as the Blackhawks clung onto their lead. Los Angeles was given one last chance after Connor Bedard was sent to the box for a tripping call. However, Spencer Knight proved to be the difference again for this young Blackhawks team, who clung on to the 2-1 victory.

The Cowboy Round-Up and What’s On TapÂ
Every game against the Los Angeles Kings is a boring one. The NHL scheduling woes make this no better. However, every game the Blackhawks win is a good one, and this was a big one tonight. After losing so many games by one goal, Chicago finally turned the tables on their opponent. Bedard continues to be scorching, and snake-bitten Frank Nazar continues to pile on points. He now sits at 9 points in his last 10 games, all being assists. Wyatt Kaiser recorded his first goal in over 10 calendar month,s and Spencer Knight is doing Spencer Knight things. Tonight, however, we have to highlight these special teams. Chicago has given up 1 goal, I repeat one goal, in their last SEVENTEEN kills over the past 5 games. Elite stuff from this new coaching staff.
On Tap for Chicago is a little taste of Deja Vú. Saturday at 8:00 pm Central, it’s the Chicago Blackhawks at the Los Angeles Kings.Â
