What happens when you take one of the best goal scorers on the St. Louis Blues out of the lineup? You get…well, worse.
It’s only been two games since Jimmy Snuggerud was put on injured reserve, but boy, are the Blues already feeling his absence. They’ve lost both games they’ve played, only managing three goals total between the two outings.
Snuggerud wasn’t exactly lighting it up, with five goals, six assists, and 11 points through 26 games in his rookie campaign, but he’s a player who’s known for his shot and ability to score goals–and scoring goals is a problem this Blues team has had all season. Not one player has cracked ten goals yet, and we’re nearly a third of the way through the 2025-26 season.
With Snuggerud gone, someone has to pick up the scoring slack, and it’s fair to ask, “Who’s even capable of that?” Jordan Kyrou currently leads the team with eight goals, but his scoring has been so sporadic and inconsistent this season that you can’t count on him to continue on like that. Dylan Holloway had a promising first year with the Blues, but this season has been quite the let down: he’s only got seven goals and 14 points. He’s tied for goals with new addition Pius Suter, who’s a good player but can’t be expected to carry a team’s goalscoring weight.
This season has long since gone off the rails, so trading futures for a fix doesn’t make any sense. However, the Blues’ minus-29 goal differential is the worst in the NHL–they need some internal solutions to step up and at least try to score goals while Jimmy Snuggerud recovers from his injury.
