With just over a minute left in the third period and the Lightning down 4-3, Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson chased a rolling puck in his end and shot it up the boards in a clearing attempt.
However, it was stopped by Lightning forward Brandon Hagel, who knocked it down with his hand to prevent it from hitting his upper body. The puck deflected to teammate Jake Guentzel who sent it back the point, which ultimately set up a game tying goal by Nikita Kucherov just seconds later.
However, the goal was called back due to a supposed “hand pass” from Hagel.Â
In his post game press conference interview, Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper said Hagel “didn’t direct any pucks” and the call was “laughable.”
Do you agree with Cooper or did the referees make the right call?
