Beckett Sennecke and Ross Johnston each had a goal and an assist and the Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting Washington Capitals 4-3 in a shootout Friday night.

Troy Terry and Mason McTavish scored in the shootout for the Ducks, who rallied three times from one-goal deficits in regulation. Cutter Gauthier added a goal and Ville Husso made 18 saves as Anaheim bounced back from a 7-0 home loss to the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday.

Tom Wilson, Ethen Frank and Aliaksei Protas scored for the Capitals, who had won six straight and were finishing up a four-game road trip. Logan Thompson made 35 saves. Anthony Beauvillier scored Washington’s lone shootout goal.

The Capitals took a 1-0 lead at 9:29 of the first period when Justin Sourdif tapped a loose puck back to Wilson for a one-timer from the high slot.

Washington rookie forward Ryan Leonard, who had a four-game point streak, left the game in the first period with an upper-body injury after a hit from Anaheim’s Jacob Trouba.

Gauthier tied the score at 18:16 of the first. Sennecke carried down the right side and, as he started behind the net, fed to Gauthier, who scored from the low slot.

Frank gave Washington a 2-1 lead at 6:06 of the second period, scoring an unassisted goal when he knocked home a loose puck in front of the crease.

The lead lasted just 13 seconds, as Johnston tipped Radko Gudas’ slap shot from the point past Thompson to tie it 2-2 at 6:19 of the middle frame.

Protas put Washington back on top at 7:38. Husse made the save on Matt Roy’s shot from the point, but Protas put the rebound in from the right post.

Sennecke tied it 3-3 at 17:59 of the second, scoring after he collected a loose puck in front of Thompson.

Capitals goalie Charlie Lindgren (upper-body injury) did not dress, so part-time practice goalie Parker Milner signed a tryout agreement and dressed as Thompson’s backup.
