The latest projections have Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat left off of Team USA’s 2026 Olympic roster.
In a strange turn of events, former 40-goal scorer and Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat might be subject to unpleasant news.
With the Olympics closing in, nearly two months away from the competition starting, the picture isn’t looking good for DeBrincat.
Should forward Alex DeBrincat of the Detroit Red Wings be on Team USA’s roster?
Brady Tkachuk – Jack Eichel – Matthew Tkachuk
Jason Robertson – Auston Matthews – Jack Hughes
Kyle Connor – Dylan Larkin – Matt Boldy
Jake Guentzel – J.T. Miller – Alex Tuch
Ironically, included on this projected roster is the Detroit Red Wings captain, Dylan Larkin, who could center Mat Boldy and Kyle Connor.
Alex DeBrincat believes that he belongs on Team USA’s roster this year, but it seems as if Bill Guerin, who is the general manager, hasn’t been convinced.
Last season, he scored 70 points (39-31) in 82 games for the Red Wings and is a reliable producer for the team.
“Obviously I believe in myself,” DeBrincat said this week. “I believe I should be on that team. I feel good right now. With that being said, there’s a lot of good players. I’m sure they have some hard, tough choices.”
It seems as if Team USA could be heading up against Canada without one of the league’s premier scorers in the NHL, DeBrincat. A huge mistake.
For refrence, DeBrincat isn’t the only American-born forward projected to be snubbed, as Cole Caufield of the Montreal Canadiens is also absent from the list.
