We have an update in the case of the fan who disturbed some Canadiens players in a Montreal pub.

Remember, earlier this week, a video circulated showing Arber Xhekaj, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Jakub Dobes relaxing with their partners in a Montreal establishment.

Here is the sequence in question below:

But we have just learned of a development that is likely to make many fans smile. According to what is circulating on the HabsOnReddit page, the customer who was filming the players was reportedly asked to leave the pub immediately after the scene. The staff on-site therefore did not tolerate this lack of respect toward the Canadiens players for very long.

It doesn’t change what happened, but it sends a clear message. The vast majority of Canadiens fans know very well that you must respect the players’ space when they grab a beer in the city. They are guys like anyone else, who respond with a smile when you stay polite, but who are entitled to a minimum of privacy away from the cameras.

Maple Leafs Seek a Strong Response as Canadiens Prepare for Toronto Matchup

The Canadiens are on the road in Toronto to face the Maple Leafs tonight, in an interesting matchup between a Montreal team at 14-9 and Toronto at 13-11. Jakub Dobes gets the start in net for this Saturday night showdown.

At 24 years old, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound goaltender has a 9-3-2 record this season, with a goals-against average of 3.11 and a save percentage of 0.892. Since joining the Canadiens, he shows an overall record of 16-7-5, with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage-solid numbers for a 5th-round pick drafted in 2020.

His new two-year contract pays him 965,000 dollars per year, a nice reward for a young goaltender who quickly established himself as an important piece of the organization. Last season, he had already recorded 7 wins in 16 games, with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage, along with one shutout in the regular season.

In the end, this pub story ends better than one might have feared for the Canadiens players. The overly insistent fan was put in his place, and the guys can now turn the page and focus on the ice.

For other fans, the message is simple: cheer loudly, but let them breathe when they go out for a quiet beer.
