The Detroit Red Wings hope to open up their West Coast road trip on the right foot, as they get set to visit the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
The Red Wings are in the midst of a six-game road trip, which kicked off on Thursday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Despite a sluggish start, Detroit managed to take the lead in the third period, only to give up the tying goal late. The team ended up losing in a shootout, wasting an opportunity to grab back-to-back wins.
It has been one of the biggest problems for the Wings: keeping the puck out of the net. The team has allowed four or more goals in five of the past six games, having lost four times during that span as well. With an offense that is not known for scoring its way out of problems, the lack of goaltending has kept Detroit from moving back up toward a playoff spot.
The Red Wings face a Kraken team that they have already beaten this season, winning 4-2 in Detroit last month, with the hopes of completing a season sweep.
