The Philadelphia Flyers (15-8-3) host the Colorado Avalanche (20-2-6) for some Sunday afternoon hockey at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Philadelphia is coming off a dominating bounce-back win vs. the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday, with a long break in between games.

Colorado was in New York City on Saturday, where they snuck out with a 3-2 overtime win vs. the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The Flyers will be hoping the Avs are tired, as they are 8-1-1 in their past 10 games. Colorado has been dominant all season long.

The puck drop is at 1:00 p.m. EST at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up.

Things to know

The Avalanche are good. Very, very good. Like, two losses in regulation this season good. This will undoubtedly be the biggest test for the Flyers this season.

They’re not even 30 games into the season, and Nathan McKinnon is two points shy of 50. Martin Necas is two points shy of 40. Oh, and world-class defenseman Cale Makar has 34 points already this season. This Avalanche team is loaded with talent, but is also exceptionally well-coached.

Jared Bednar has his team looking absolutely unstoppable this season. The Avalanche leads the league in goals for per game and also allows the fewest per game. That’s a pretty good recipe for success. They have the 2nd-best penalty kill in the league. Colorado’s only blemish on their season record is their 15.3 power-play percentage (26th).

Sunday will not be an easy task for the Flyers, who enter the game without Tyson Foerster, who is tied for the team lead in goals, but also plays a critical two-way game. The Flyers will also likely be without Cam York, who has been a big part of the team’s defense this season.

With that, Ty Murchison has been recalled by the Flyers and could make his NHL debut, but it feels unlikely for Sunday.
