The Detroit Red Wings’ AHL affiliate has made history in a way that should excite Hockeytown fans for the future.

The prospect pipeline for the Detroit Red Wings has shown some promise this year.

In the first 20 games of the season in the AHL, the Grand Rapids Griffins have set a record. In 2025-26, they have 37 points, with a record of 18-1-0-1, with a percentage of .925.

A record that is good enough for third in AHL history, behind the 2004-25 Manchester Monarchs with a record of 19-1-0, with a record of .950.

The Detroit Red Wings prospect pipeline in the AHL is producing amazing results

The team whose lineup is led by prospects and players such as Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, Sebastian Cossa, Eduards Tralmaks, Carter Mazur, and Amadeus Lombardi has been playing like an elite team in the AHL.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard has produced at an almost point-per-game rate in the AHL, scoring 14 points (5-9) in 15 games with the Griffins.

Tralmaks, an offseason signing by the Red Wings, has also performed up to expectations as a depth player, scoring 13 points (11-2) in 20 games. This is after a successful run in the World Championships with Team Latvia.

Steve Yzerman’s team building through the draft is, without question, one of his best skills as GM. However, it takes the players to play as a well-oiled unit and deliver on their expectations, which they’ve gone above and beyond.

This should excite fans of Hockeytown, who should keep a keen eye on the team’s future, which is currently based in the AHL at the moment.
