The Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt with plenty of injuries this season, and now Craig Berube has provided a somewhat positive update on Chris Tanev.

In early November, Toronto Maple Leafs veteran Chris Tanev was involved in a scary collision against the Philadelphia Flyers, one that required him to be stretchered off the ice in brutal scenes.

Thankfully, Tanev was cleared of a long-term injury almost immediately, but unfortunately, we haven’t seen the veteran blue liner since the incident took place on November 1st, although he has been on the ice separate from practice since that point.

Craig Berube gives the latest on Chris Tanev

Recently, Head Coach Craig Berube was asked to give updates on several key injuries, and then he got to Tanev, when he revealed that Tanev will be looked at this week ahead of a potential return.

We’ll see. He is getting looked at this week – Wednesday, I believe – so we should know some more information after that in terms of where he is at. He feels good. He’s skating and working hard. But we’ll have to see when he is looked at on Wednesday.

Then, on Sunday morning, we saw Tanev on the ice looking to get his legs back under him, and while that doesn’t confirm that a return is nearing, it’s certainly a good sign for the 35-year old veteran.

The next update on Tanev’s situation will come on Wednesday when he officially gets re-evaluated, and while there’s a chance he doesn’t return, given the situation that Toronto are in, if they want to make a run, they need him, Anthony Stolarz and the rest of their banged up players healthy as soon as possible.
