A new update from Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has fans in Toronto more concerned than ever about the Anthony Stolarz situation.

If there was a theme that had to be used to best represent the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 2025-26 season, it would probably have to be ‘injuries’.

With Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies, Chris Tanev, and Anthony Stolarz among so many others dealing with health issues this season, it’s been a tough year for the Blue & White.

Fully transparent njury updates have also been hard to come by as head coach Craig Berube has kept most of his detailed information close to his chest. However, from time to time he does drop some nuggets of information, like today when it came to Stolarz.

The New Jersey native has been sidelined since the 11th of November when he sustained an injury against the Boston Bruins. He’s already missed close to a month of action and could be missing a whole lot more, according to Berube, who offered a concerning update.

It’s been a tough season for Stolarz, who posted a 6-5-1 record with a .884 SV% and a 3.51 GAA before going down with the injury. His play was nowhere near the same level as last year, where he was the driving force behind the Leafs winning the division and advancing past the first round.

What makes this update more concerning is Stolarz’s injury history as he’s already missed a lot of games in his near 2-year tenure with the club. He had 3 injury stints last year, and coming off a fresh contract extension before the season opener, it’s certainly a worrisome trend.

With Stolarz not set to return anytime soon, the Leafs will have to make do with what they currently have on their roster. It also doesn’t help that Joseph Woll sustained a lower-body injury earlier this week after taking over as the number one goaltender in Stolarz’s absence.

Berube does believe that it shouldn’t be a long-term injury for Woll and that he could miss just one week, leaving Dennis Hildeby to man the crease in the meantime.

Hildeby did a fantastic job last night when he stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced in a shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens. A lot more of the same will be expected when they face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday before a matchup against San Jose on Thursday.
