The Avalanche announced after their 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday that Trent Miner is returning to the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.

Miner backed up for Blackwood in each of the first three games of the road trip following an injury to Scott Wedgewood at Ball Arena on Tuesday.

Miner’s reassignment means Wedgewood, who is on the trip, is at least going to dress as one of the two goalies on Tuesday when the road trip ends in Nashville. It’s also a real possibility that he starts, given Blackwood’s recent workload.

This is the 6th back-to-back of the season for the #Avs. First time they’ve started the same goalie.

Scott Wedgewood was on the ice yesterday morning in NYC to take some shots, btw. He said he felt good after. https://t.co/exFNSOnQuh

Wedgewood is 13-1-3 in 19 starts with a sparkling .920 save percentage and a 2.07 goals-against average. The Avalanche and Canucks were tied 1-1 when Wedgewood exited with an injury.
