A well-known insider has just linked the name of a young player to the Montreal Canadiens.
Frank Seravalli, journalist at TSN, stated on X that the Montreal Canadiens are among the teams interested in acquiring Brad Lambert from the Winnipeg Jets.
The Montreal Canadiens are officially interested in forward Brad Lambert of the Winnipeg Jets, who has been placed on the trade market
“Brad Lambert: There’s tons of teams out there…he fits the age scheme that they’re looking for, Calgary, probably Vancouver, the Flyers; Montreal you could see making sense.”
– Frank Seravalli via Frankly Hockey
A first-round pick, 30th overall, in the 2022 draft, the 21-year-old forward-once considered one of the top prospects in his class-has struggled to establish himself in the NHL, and the rumour is that the Jets are looking to move on from him.
Seravalli also mentioned that Lambert fits perfectly in the age range that would make Kent Hughes strongly interested in acquiring him. Besides the Canadiens, he identified the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers as the other teams involved in the Brad Lambert sweepstakes.
That gives us four total names revealed by Seravalli. According to the insider, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is reportedly looking for a defenseman in a similar situation-someone who also needs a career reset.
“Frank Seravalli: Re Brad Lambert: Is there a situation out there with a defenseman who might be in a similar spot that they could do a swap that makes sense?” – Frankly Hockey
That could absolutely align with what Kent Hughes is targeting in a potential trade.
