The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly set a very high asking price on pending unrestricted free agent forward Kiefer Sherwood after being made available late last month.

“They have 100 percent called on both players. They want scoring and believe that with some more, this team can definitely stay in the race and make some noise.” The source said to RG Media’s James Murphy regarding Boston’s interest in Kiefer Sherwood.

Vancouver Canucks reportedly set very high asking price for Kiefer Sherwood

While making an appearance on The Sheet with Jeff Marek, National Hockey League insider David Pagnotta gave some insight into what the asking price is for Kiefer Sherwood.

According to Pagnotta, the Vancouver Canucks are hoping they’ll be able to land a first round pick, as well as another asset in exchange for the 30-year-old winger leading up to the deadline on Friday, March 6th.

“I am hearing it’s a first round pick plus for Kiefer Sherwood.” Pagnotta said.

While some teams will certainly balk at that price, which is understandable not just because it’s a lot to give up for someone who might only be a rental, but the first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft is quite deep and it might be hard to get a General Manager to part with that asset.

However, with the amount of teams that are already showing interest in Kiefer Sherwood this early on, with exactly three months to go until the trade deadline, there’s a good chance that Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks’ management staff will get what they want and potentially even more, if a bidding war ensues.

For now, the Canucks are going to remain patient and aren’t in a rush to trade Kiefer Sherwood or any of their pending unrestricted free agents, but perhaps after the holiday roster freeze, we could see action begin to pick up on the trade market, perhaps even including the Columbus, Ohio native.
