A pair of former Saginaw Spirit stars are making a name for themselves, finding the way to San Jose.
Igor Chernyshov was named the American Hockey League Player of the Month for November after leading the San Jose Barracuda to a 10-1-1 record.
Chernyshov, who scored 55 points in 23 games for the Spirit last season, had 10 goals and six assists in 13 games for the Barracudas, finishing the month with a +8 plus/minus.
The San Jose Sharks took Chernyshov in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Chernyshov was joined by former Spirit star Michael Misa, who was sent to the Barracuda on a conditioning loan from the NHL. Misa played in seven games for the Sharks, scoring a goal with two assists before suffering a lower-body injury.
He scored 62 goals with 72 assists for the Spirit during the 2024-25 season. The Sharks drafted Misa with the second overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Saginaw tries to end a three-game losing streak at 7 p.m. Friday at London (16-10-3-0) before returning to the Dow Event Center at 7:05 p.m. Saturday to face a Kitchener team that leads the Midwest Division with an 18-9-2-0 record. The Spirit are 9-14-3-3.
