SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Less than two months after signing an 8-year $80 million extension, the Utah Mammoth announced center Logan Cooley suffered an injury that would leave him off the roster indefinitely.
The injury appeared to happen late in Friday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. The 21-year-old center slid into the Canucks net, with his left leg crashing hard into the post.
The Mammoth did not disclose the extent of Cooley’s injury and fell short of defining it as season-ending. However, the team did not provide a timeline of when Cooley could return to the ice.
In an interview, Head Coach André Tourigny called the injury unfortunate but said that the team would need a “next man up” mentality.
“It’s an opportunity for someone else to step in,” said Tourigny.
Cooley has played in 29 games of Utah Mammoth’s 30 in the 2025-26 season, missing only Saturday night’s game against Calgary following the injury. In that time, Cooley has scored 14 goals and made nine assists to earn 23 points.
In late October, Cooley committed to Utah by signing an eight-year contract extension with the Mammoth at an average annual value of $10 million per year.
At the time of the signing, Utah Mammoth governor Ryan Smith called him “one of the most exciting young players in the league.”
