GRAND FORKS — Will Zellers will head to camp with the U.S. World Junior Championship team after all.

The UND freshman forward is expected to be added to the preliminary roster this week and will join the under-20 team’s camp next week, multiple sources confirmed to the Herald.

The U.S. announced its roster last week, but did not have Zellers on it.

Zellers, meanwhile, continued his torrid start for UND. He has 10 goals and 15 points in 16 games for the No. 5-ranked Fighting Hawks.

Zellers is one goal shy of leading all NCAA freshmen.

He was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s Rookie of the Month for November.

UND sophomore defenseman E.J. Emery and 2026 goaltender recruit Caleb Heil also

will go to camp with the Americans.

Camp is scheduled from Dec. 15-23 in Duluth, Minn.

The Americans will cut two forwards and two defensemen before coming up with their final roster for the event, which is scheduled for Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in St. Paul and Minneapolis. The U.S. will play its games in Grand Casino Arena, home of the Minnesota Wild.

UND freshman forward Cole Reschny, freshman defenseman Keaton Verhoeff and 2026 defenseman recruit Ethan MacKenzie

are going to Hockey Canada’s camp,

which begins this weekend in Niagara, Ont.
