The Abbotsford Canucks will be receiving a big reinforcement on the blue line, as Jett Woo cleared waivers today after the Vancouver Canucks placed the defensemen several days ago.

“Abbotsford has lost nine games in a row after winning the first two of the season, and are now at the bottom of the AHL standings. Similar to the Vancouver Canucks with nine injuries, and on a trajectory to the bottom of the western conference as well. There are no positive signs for the organization this season.”-Stinson

Abbotsford Canucks receive much needed help with Jett Woo.

Yahoo Sports recently posted the news that Woo cleared waivers and will report to Abbotsford. Woo was the 37th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. In last years Calder Cup run Woo recorded 18 points and 90 penalty minutes in 67 games. In the postseason he recorded six points in 22 games.

“The Abbotsford Canucks will be getting a massive boost to their blueline with the return of Jett Woo.”-Yahoo

The Abbotsford Canucks have had just as bad a season as the Vancouver Canucks, riddled with injuries and have failed to find the form they had just six months ago. They currently sit third last in the entire AHL, hopefully the addition of Woo can boost their morale and play a little.

On the other hand for Woo, it’s definitely a setback in his career. At this point it’s hard to see him make a full jump to the NHL, and be able to stick onto a roster. Especially with a team struggling as much as the Canucks, not being able to make the roster is discouraging. Nonetheless he provides a lot of value to an AHL team, and will aim to turn Abbotsford’s season around.
