The bottom of Marco Sturm’s reconstituted lineup delivered and got the Bruins off to a good start on their three-game road trip.
Mark Kastelic and Fraser Minten each scored twice and David Pastrnak had two assists in his first game back from injury in the Bruins’ 5-2 victory at the Enterprise Center.
The win gave Boston a season sweep of St. Louis and former coach Jim Montgomery.
The Bruins head north to Winnipeg to continue their road trip on Thursday.
The Blues took the lead after the first period when Robert Thomas beat Jeremy Swayman on the power play to make it 1-0.
But David Pastrnak picked up a point in his return to the lineup in the second. He earned an assist on new linemate Fraser Minten’s goal that tied the game 1-1 with 7:12 left in the second.
Less than two minutes later, the rejiggered fourth line put the Bruins ahead. Mark Kastelic beat Joel Hofer with 5:26 left in the second.
Thomas brought the Blues back to even early in the third, beating Swayman, just before the 5-minute mark in the third.
But the fourth line delivered again. Kastelic pounced on the loose puck that bounced off of Sean Kuraly and stuffed it behind Hofer with 11:59 left.
Minten’s second goal of the game gave the Bruins some breathing room. St. Louis tried to chip the puck out off the boards, but Minten stole the puck and slung it by Hofer to make it 4-2 with 8:27 left.
After Pastrnak’s empty-net try hit the post, Pavel Zacha tapped the puck into the empty crease to seal the win. Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves to earn the win.
