The Colorado Avalanche had good and bad news on Tuesday night in Nashville.
The good news is they got another point after superstar defenseman Cale Makar played hero very late against the Predators.
Down 3-2, but skating with a 6-on-4 advantage thanks to an empty net and Nashville penalty, the Avalanche were frantically trying to tie the game.
Makar came through with an incredible wrist shot, getting the game even at 3-3 with eight second left and sending it to overtime.

It was Makar’s 10th goal of the season, marking the fifth straight year he’s put up double-digits tallies, setting a new Colorado franchise record for a defenseman.
Unfortunately, the bad news is the Avalanche are only leaving Nashville with one point. OT was scoreless, then they lost the shootout 1-0. There was a bizarre collision in the shootout between Predators forward Filip Forsberg and Colorado goalie Scott Wedgewood.
Wedgewood took a big hit from Forsberg after he lost an edge. He appeared to hit his head both on Forsberg and perhaps on the ice as well. And even though the officials let Wedgewood face another Nashville shooter, he was eventually pulled from the game by a concussion spotter.
Gabriel Landeskog waited while all this happened and Mackenzie Blackwood took the ice. However, Landeskog couldn’t extend the shootout and Nashville prevailed. Blackwood never faced a Predators skater as the shootout and game were over.
Regardless, it was an entertaining contest. Things were tied 2-2 after one period, then Nashville took the lead in the third before Makar delivered in the clutch.
The Avalanche would’ve loved a second point, but at 21-2-7 with 49 points on the year, there’s very little to complain about.
