The Florida Panthers (14-12-2) will make its second-ever trip to the Beehive State to face the Utah Mammoth (14-14-3) at Delta Center tonight to open a four-game road trip that carries a high degree of difficulty.
Florida won in two different fashions over the weekend to finish off a rough six-game homestand (2-3-1) on a positive note. After beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-6 in overtime on Saturday, the Cats got back to basics to defeat the New York Islanders 4-1 on Sunday. Uvis Balinskis scored his first of the season and red-hot Carter Verhaeghe, Seth Jones and Sam Reinhart also lit the lamp for the Panthers. Daniil Tarasov made 20 saves to collect his third win in a Florida kit.
After snapping a four-game losing streak with impressive victories over Anaheim (7-0) and Vancouver (4-1), the Mammoth got blanked 2-0 in Calgary on Saturday and fell 4-2 to the Los Angeles to open a three-game homestand on Monday. Utah was without leading goal-scorer Logan Cooley in both losses after he crashed into the net in the win over the Canucks. Leading point-getter Clayton Keller had a goal and an assist and Dylan Guenther also lit the lamp in the loss to the Kings.
