Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers dominated on Tuesday night, taking down the San Jose Sharks 4-1 at Xfinity Mobile Arena. It was a game that had just about everything, from a rookie lap to an EBUG, though the EBUG never played.
That prominent rookie lap, of course, belonged to Ty Murchison, who fit in just fine with the Flyers in his NHL debut.
Daily Faceoff: Anthony Di Marco, who wrote about a potential Trevor Zegras extension earlier in the season, wrote an update on what he is hearing on the situation. Zegras is clearly the Flyers’ big RFA, with Bobby Brink and Jamie Drysdale also in need of new contracts. But Zegras is not the only other offseason acquisition he is wondering about extensions for.
NHL rumors & news
Sportsnet: NHL insider Nick Kypreos has been hearing things. With trade buzz and NHL news going on, Kypreos wrote what he has been hearing, including Quinn Hughes talk and other trade noise, and a few injury updates.
New Jersey Hockey Now: Speaking of Quinn Hughes, more links to Hughes and New Jersey! James Nichols writes why the Devils have an upper hand when looking to acquire the superstar defenseman from the Vancouver Canucks.
Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights played their third overtime game in their last four games, including two shootouts. Former Flyers’ goaltender Carter Hart played in all three of them, including their latest, a shootout loss on Long Island. Hannah Kirkell wrote her 7 Observations from the game.
For what it’s worth, that probably makes Hart’s chances at playing in his return game to Philly pretty slim, with Vegas’ next game being in Philly on Thursday.
Colorado Hockey Now: The Avalanche have some pretty slick Quebec Nordiques sweaters this season. Colorado only has one road game scheduled with the sweaters – in Carolina with the Hurricanes rocking their Whalers throwbacks – but another may be added. Colorado is seeking permission to wear the throwbacks in Montreal later this season.
Sportsnaut: The Hockey Now family has PWHL coverage! In this first story for PWHLN, Lou Orlando breaks down one team’s hot start and ranks the league’s eight teams.
